She was called to the bar in 1981 after her university education at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Her multi-faceted career includes her early years in the civil service at the Ministry of Justice Aba, and later, several years as Corporate Counsel at the defunct African Continental Bank before she was appointed Head of the Legal Advisory Unit. She later worked at Post Express Newspapers before joining up with Awa U. Kalu & Associates in Abuja.
